The second sentence seems to be the key difference, changing "keeps watch on world events as these fulfull bible prophecies," to
"in the light of bible prophecies". So, does this mean bible prophecies are no longer being fulfilled?

It's not like the death penalty has never killed innocent people.
Convicted murderers in a court of law facing a possible death penalty have MANY more rights than,
unborn babies in their mothers' wombs.
Moral equivalency is neither moral or equivalent, i.e., convicted murderers being compared to unborn children.

fifty-- Save the whales or orduckbilled platypus, or great sea-horn otters of the Anarctica, but abort the babies?
My only argument is this --- One million occur every year.
my happy bubble is deflating.
i'm looking at the richmond and toronto apostafest pics and i'm longing for company.. it's been a really long time since i enjoyed good company and warm friendship.
even before we became inactive our friendships with witnesses had waned.. i really am very social.
Changeling, did you go to the Richmond Fest?
I had to cancel at the last minute, now wish I'd gone.
Emy
here is something to think about.. let's say you want to survey a large group of people about what they think.. you publish a magazine with, say, 1 million readers.. the name of your magazine is adultry fun.. you ask the poll question : is marriage fidelity over-rated?.
250,000 readers reply.
now ask yourself this question.. does this poll accurately reflect the beliefs of people in general?
"by the filter of an Organization which first interprets the essential meaning of what they think!"
I do think as jdubs we were conditioned to be good "followers of men".
A few weeks back I carefully read (even though it was the same theme over and over, "why you need to follow us") WT literature. I couldn't believe some of the tripe (conclusions drawn)that was contained in it. If this is all someone were reading, they'd be so sadly and dangerously clueless.
i'm not trying to make anyone mad here, but you ex -jws were raised in a cult similar to the shiria schools run by imams in the middle east... difference is, these schools are much harsher than the jws.
most of you've had little succes getting your familys out of this cult (the jws) but have somehow bought into the idea that democracy will help stop radical thinking in the musliem world-that spreading democracy in the middle east will somehow stop radical thinking; ignoring the fact that syria, iran and others are already democracies of sorts.
there are 1.5 billion musliems in the world; just like christianity has it's radicals, so does islam, most aren't radical, most aren't hard core terror supporting fools, but some are... they're everywhere, including asian countries which are democracies.
Syria is NOT a democracy, I thought it was a monarchy but I was wrong too.
Wiki says:
The authoritarian regime was not without its critics, though most were quickly murdered [citation needed] . A serious challenge arose in the late 1970s, however, from fundamentalist Sunni Muslims, who reject the basic values of the secular Baath program and object to rule by the Alawis, whom they consider heretical. From 1976 until its suppression in 1982, the arch-conservative Muslim Brotherhood led an armed insurgency against the regime. In response to an attempted uprising by the brotherhood in February 1982, the government crushed the fundamentalist opposition centered in the city of Hama, leveling parts of the city with artillery fire and causing many thousands of dead and wounded. Since then, public manifestations of anti-regime activity have been very limited. [citation needed]
Syria's 1990 participation in the U.S.-led multinational coalition aligned against Saddam Hussein marked a dramatic watershed in Syria's relations both with other Arab states and with the Western world. Syria participated in the multilateral Middle East Peace Conference in Madrid in October 1991, and during the 1990s engaged in direct, face-to-face negotiations with Israel. These negotiations failed, and there have been no further Syrian-Israeli talks since President Hafiz al-Assad's meeting with then President Bill Clinton in Geneva in March 2000. [

Iran is not a democracy, of any sort. It is run radical shiite clerics whose goal is to kill all "infidels" so that their messiah the "12th emam" can return. They believe that he cannot and will not return until they kill all of the infidels ("the earth is washed with the blood of the infidels" or some such thing). Stop and think about that. So it is up to them to "hasten" his return. We're standing in the way of their savior being able to return (in their minds) !!! This is what most people in the west don't understand. This is "why we fight" (a troop saying) at this point in history.
There are no true democracies in the middle east except for Lebanon (which is largely christian), but they are being terribly brutalized by Hezzbolah terrorists (which is linked to Iran).
There are radical groups here and there that subscribe to this particular brand of islam. Some are Sunni (which is what AlQueda is), some are Shiite (Iranian). You almost have to keep a score card to keep track of which side any given radical is on.
But the Iranian radicals in control of the gov't are a minority, but a powerful and brutal one. Hopefully the moderate iranians, who don't believe in the emam doctrine will rise up and overthrow the mullahs in charge. The mullahs feel threatened by a true democracy right next door to them. No, democracy isn't the end all and be all of all the worlds troubles, but it could erode the power and influence the mullah/terrorist have by giving people hope of not having to live under brutal terrorist regimes.
when i tell anyone i am considered an apostate, they usually think i'm joking and fall over laughing.
after thinking about it, i can understand why.
my lifestyle would prompt a farmyard chicken to take up another interest.
I'm not as comfortable with the Aposterrific thing yet, still have clear memories of the 'fear and loathing campaign of '81' about the ...<thunder crash!>... Apostates!
I won't apologize for my patriotism, firearms, or giggling when I drink --and almost as much not drinking.
i have been here only a while, but i do appreciate the place, i see there are many honest hearted persons here, that like me are good people, who help with the mirad of issues that arise from years of controling stresses from the jw.. many times i feel the flashbacks, when i read the thoughts of others, it helps alot to know there are others like me , i no longer feel so alone!.
big d.
many times i feel the flashbacks, when i read the thoughts of others,
yeah, you thought you were the only one too, right?
it helps alot to know there are others like me , i no longer feel so alone!
It does help. Glad you are here.
this chart is out of date and i am wondering if anyone can find more contemporary statistics?.
i am wondering if there is some way possible for wbts to be billed for medical expenses caused by the psychological harm inflicted when dubs end up in dr. offices or hospital as a result of spiritual trauma and spiritual warfare?.
seems to me that we could make them take some responsibility.. (i am not providing the link because this is second-hand information).
Coffee is right, they set up rules instructing the members what freedoms they can and cannot exercize, but will defend this by saying "no one forced them to remain in the organization".
But bringing this up is good Tula. It highlights the destructiveness that can result from stress involved in being a JW. Lurkers probably know the issue all too well, and blame themselves for it.
Lets hope that they will read this and a light will come on, 'hey maybe it's not just me afterall!'.
